When Disruption Hits, Leaders Face This Critical Choice…

Resist the change or harness its power to evolve?

When I think of all the ‘Vision 2020’s’ that have been created over the past 15 years, it is hard to believe we’re actually here in Q4 of 2025! We don’t know exactly what this year is going to look like, but we know one thing. Nearly every prediction tells us that 2026 will continue to be a year of disruption. Whether it’s global unrest, the political climate, the economy, potential market changes, regulations and tariff changes, there are implications for just about every organization.

As we prepare to face this, I have one question: Are you prepared? We don’t know what’s going to happen, but we know it will be a year of transition and uncertainty, regardless of who wins the election (and that’s a long way away). How confident are you that your team is prepared? Right now, in October 2025?  Not just ready for tough times, but really prepared so that when disruption happens, there won’t be any question about what to do and the biggest decision will be how fast to get it done?

Alignment happens when every single person in the organization is on the same page. When they are all working towards a shared outcome with a clear understanding of their place in the process. With the freedom to make effective decisions at the point where it makes sense (not delegating decision making upwards and waiting on needless levels of approvals). Can your team do that?

 If your confidence is a bit shaky, this is the time to get ready.

You see, when disruption hits, you have a choice – you can let it be something people rail against and resist or you can harness its power to evolve and become a more resilient company. To serve your customers more deeply, and to create fulfillment for yourself and everyone you work with.

Being a resilient company is about increasing the resilience of every individual within it…and creating alignment. It has nothing to do with bouncing back. There is no BACK to bounce to. Life is always moving forward.

Alignment is about making sure that everyone on your team, with their different gifts, personalities, stressors and agendas is working together. And that they are supporting one another towards a shared goal. AND your team has the resilience to be energized and elevated by rapid, disruptive change.

If you want to create resilience on your team so that you can come back stronger and deliver more results in the face of rapid, disruptive change, remember to insist on creating alignment FIRST.
